Our story

I had the good fortune to work with Bob Snodgrass (www.snodgrass.net), eventually earning my position as his apprentice in the late 1990s. Bob has always crafted killer dragon steamrollers that, when smoked properly, encapsulate the smoke stream in cool outside air. The result? An incredible hit smoother than anything I’d ever experienced. The cool air helps reduce irritation to the lung receptors that trigger your diaphragm’s reaction, thus allowing a fuller, more comfortable smoke than other Glass Pipes.

My goal was to create a simplified version of this innovative technology for everyday use. Drawing on my background in fluid dynamics and my experience as a Glass pipe maker, I developed the Helix. It harnesses Bernoulli’s Principle of Venturi to recreate that cool air stream I first encountered in Bob’s living room.

In 2007, the Helix design was enthusiastically received across Texas and quickly became the top-selling Glass Pipes and handpipe in most shops. Unable to keep up with demand on my own, I began searching for a partner in 2008. That led to a collaboration in Austin with a burgeoning manufacturer and distributor. Together, Grav and I grew the Helix into America’s #1 selling handpipe by 2010.

Since then, the Helix has become a staple in American smoke culture—and smoke culture around the globe. It has found its way into the hands of iconic figures like Tommy Chong, Miley Cyrus, Snoop Dogg, and many more.
